Every home that I have photographed has been so unique and special; I am so grateful to be let into people’s lives in such an intimate way, and to be able give them something priceless in return.
While driving out to Tinker and Bill’s home I received an email that they would not be able to be there for the shoot because of a medical emergency. Homes are a reflection of ourselves - a pair of boots, a collection of old photographs, a rusted garden rake. They tell our stories, even after we are gone. With Housestories my inspiration always been to create something that will live forever, to provide a door that can be stepped through anytime, a door that can be shared and handed down. Someday even our homes will be gone, whether because we’ve moved or moved on. I’m grateful every time that I have an opportunity to tell a story, and I always will be.
The photos I take are just the brush strokes; each one important, but only part of a bigger piece. Your album is the art that I am creating with Housestories. It is the finished piece that I want to give you.
Your album tells the story of your home as it is right now.
Your home might look the same tomorrow, and a little different in a few months, a lot different in a few years, and someday it will be unrecognizable. Gone forever. Part of a faded past.
Someday you will be looking through this album, and it will seem so long ago that your kids were running around the house, that their toys were everywhere.
Someday your children will look through this album and remember how much love was in their home.
I love capturing the personality of a family’s home, but creating this album and knowing what it will mean for you and your family is what truly inspires me. Get in touch to find out how you can start the process of creating your Housestories album before your home changes forever.
There are few bonds as enduring and heartwarming as that between grandparents and grandchildren.
Recently, my children experienced the loss of one of their grandmothers. It was a stark reminder of the preciousness of this connection. In the wake of this loss, I've come to realize the immeasurable value of the photographs we have.
So, if you're fortunate enough to have grandparents in your life, I urge you to take the time to capture the laughter, the love, and the joy shared between generations – for these images will become priceless treasures that you'll hold dear for a lifetime. Capture the moments. Cherish the memories. And never underestimate the power of a photograph to preserve the love that binds us together, now and always.
