The happiest moments we have with our often the most ordinary ones - pouring syrup over a stack of pancakes, building a blanket fort, curling up on the living room couch - and these are also the moments that we tend to forget. Housestories offers family photography that goes beyond, capturing not just amazing pictures of your family, but also a beautiful documentation of your home that will become priceless treasure as your family grows.

Perfect homes look great in magazines, but Housestories is meant to capture your home as it is, nicks and scratches, messes, and all. When your children are from up, this will be the house they remember, and it will always be beautiful. I hope there’s handprints on the walls and a stain on the couch; I hope that your photos reflect an authentic image of what a family and their home looks like, imperfections and all.

Depending on the size of your home, the shoot usually take 1.5 to 2 hours.
Once I arrive, I will chat with you and your family about yourselves and your home while I set up my tripod and test the light.
I’ll spend the next hour or two taking photos throughout your home while you and your family go about your day.
When I’m all done shooting I will gather everyone together, and end the shoot with a mini family photo session. We will say our goodbye’s, and you’ll tell me how excited you are to see the photos, and I’ll tell you that I can’t wait to share them with you.

The idea is to capture a natural portrait of your family's life, not to photograph an idealized version of your home, so don't feel like you need to clean excessively, buy fresh flowers, or set out the good china. A little tidying up beforehand is more than enough.

I love incorporating families in the photo. At the end of each shoot I also like to get your family together for a mini family shoot as well. Having said that, I have done many Housestories shoots without people there, and their personalities still shine through.
