During the summer of 2015, my wife, daughter, and I moved from Hong Kong back to Vancouver. I'd almost forgotten how much I love being surrounded by tress. Forests are golden.
I don't care what anyone says; dandelions are beautiful, even the ones that are fading away.
I just happen to be walking around at dusk, and I just happen to have my camera with me, and there just happen to be an art installation with hundreds of light bulbs hanging against an evening blue sky.
To me, photography is about exploration. It is about seeing something, and then seeing how else you can see it. How many ways can you see the same thing? What can you see that you didn't see before? What can you discover that would otherwise go forever unnoticed?
Walking through Beijing in the winter gives you a sense of how far away it is. There's something beautifully haunted about the weight of the city that feels unlike anywhere I've ever been; the way it's mass sits so firmly to ground, steeped in long history yet unsure of the future.
I used to drive by canola fields every day, wishing I could just get out of my car and run through them. One day I finally did. It was awesome.
